Akshita Vincent, a University of Toronto (U of T) alumna, comes with 6+ years of business development and commercialization experience. Over the years, Akshita has been responsible for ​various Business Development activities such as matchmaking and liaising with biotech/pharmaceutical and venture capital companies and researchers in the therapeutics, diagnostics, biomedical devices, and digital healthcare space.

She has also supported U of T’s Innovations teams on their commercialization and entrepreneurship activities, such as development of commercialization strategies (licensing vs start-up creation) and roadmaps for technology portfolio by conducting intellectual property and markets assessments on inventions from the biomedical and life sciences field; assessing value proposition; analyzing the competitive landscape; identifying challenges/barriers to market, market drivers/constraints; commercial considerations (e.g. market segments and channels to reach them); and provide recommendations for technology development.

In her current role she helps identify opportunities to advance the university’s research through industry-academic collaborations, grants (federal, provincial and industry) and contracts (sponsored research, licenses, etc.); develop and implement strategies to cultivate new industrial partnerships with UofT; and build relationships with potential industry partners.
