Kayla Sousa is the Programs Lead with ICUBE at the University of Toronto Mississauga. In her role, she supports early-stage entrepreneurs in overcoming challenges and accessing meaningful supports to help them in their start-up journeys; she also builds programming to break down barriers for underrepresented founders. Prior to her work with ICUBE, Kayla worked in the Experiential Education Unit within the Office of the Dean as an Experiential Learning Officer. There, she assisted faculty across campus to develop paid Work-Integrated Learning programming for students in the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information & Technology, as well as in Psychology, Economics, and Political Science. In addition, she has seven years of experience in career development, supporting youth seeking mentorship and job opportunities. Outside of post-secondary work, Kayla has worked in psychometric consulting and crisis counselling, which aligns with her graduate degree and training in Counselling and Psychotherapy from OISE, U of T. From the culmination of her experiences, Kayla has developed strength in building relationships and opportunities for students, alumni, and community members.
