After witnessing the impacts of water pollution during a trip to Mumbai at 14, Diana Virgovicova decided to dedicate her life to finding a solution. She immediately began teaching herself quantum chemistry and, at 17, modelled a molecule that can eliminate pollutants from water when exposed to sunlight.

MedEssist, a fast-growing health tech startup that provides a digital platform to help pharmacies grow and support their patient relationships, came together when two University of Toronto alumni met through mutual friends.

Reeddi

Reeddi manufactures portable and rechargeable batteries powered by solar charging stations to support people living in areas with unreliable energy infrastructure. Founded by Olugbenga Olubanjo, Reeddi now powers more than 3,000 households and businesses in Nigeria with clean electricity.

AmacaThera

AmacaThera offers an injectable hydrogel that delivers non-opioid painkillers precisely where needed, potentially transforming post-surgery care. AmacaThera has raised over US$15 million and has partnered with a leading global pharmaceutical company to produce a long-acting biologic drug.

erthos

erthos is tackling the global plastic pollution crisis by developing high-performance biobased plastic alternatives. What started as a research project is now a fast-growing company that has raised USD $12M and secured partnerships with global giants.
