Krishna Ruthnum
Director of Climate Strategy & Governance, RBC
As Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)’s Director, Climate Strategy & Governance, Krishna plays a critical role in continuing the development and refinement of RBC’s Enterprise climate strategy, the RBC Climate Blueprint. Krishna works with internal partners in lines of business and functional units to advance strategic and forward-thinking climate initiatives that drive business results and positive environmental impact. He also supports vertical teams to accelerate the implementation of climate initiatives where needed.
Krishna first joined RBC in 2021 in the Sustainability & Enterprise ESG team in Corporate Citizenship, where he led a team that acts as a key centre of expertise on sustainability and human rights. In this role, he advanced progress on RBC’s strategy to reduce its operational emissions and played a key role in the issuance of RBC’s second benchmark Green Bond, which reinforces RBC’s commitment to supporting our clients in the net-zero transition.
Krishna joined RBC from the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing where he worked directly with clients on the design and issuance of social finance solutions. Krishna also worked in equity research at CIBC Capital Markets, and in various roles at Export Development Canada. Krishna holds an MBA from the University of Toronto where he was class Valedictorian, and is a CFA charterholder.
