Forbes AI 50 list includes two U of T startups

Two University of Toronto startups, Waabi and Cohere were included in Forbes’ AI 50 list which recognizes standouts in privately-held North American companies making the “most interesting and effective use of artificial technology”. The founding team of both startups come with ties to Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of deep learning” at the University of Toronto.
Cohere is focused on natural language processing and offers a backend toolkit for companies to integrate it in different ways. Founded in 2021 by Aidan Gomez, the startup has quickly raised $165 million in funding.
Founded by AI pioneer and computer scientist Raquel Urtasun, Waabi is taking a new approach to creating self-driving technology for long-haul trucking.
