About the Workshop:
This workshop will explore some of the foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand why AI is unique at law and how regulators, industry associations, civil society groups and others are thinking about the regulation of AI technologies as well as the opportunities and risks presented by AI technologies from a multidisciplinary approach.

About the Speaker:

Carole Piovesan, J.D., M.Sc. is Managing Partner at INQ Law, focusing her practice on privacy, cyber incident response, data governance and artificial intelligence (AI) risk management. Prior to founding INQ Law, Carole was co-lead of the national Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Management group at a leading law firm.

A seasoned litigator, she has represented clients before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as at the Supreme Court of Canada. Carole’s influence on AI policy extends to global and national levels, evidenced by her membership in the OECD.AI Policy Observatory and her role as one of six Digital Leaders appointed by the federal Minister of Innovation to inform Canada’s Digital Charter.

A seasoned expert who has testified before House of Commons committees on technology law, she is consistently recognized by Chambers Canada and Best Lawyers as a leader in the fields of privacy and data protection, technology law, and healthcare law.
