AVIN and WMDA Pitch Off Competition – Presentations and Panel Discussions
Ontario’s Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN) and Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) are launching a “pitch-off” competition for post-secondary students in engineering, information technology, and business administration. The competition invites teams of one to three students to pitch solutions on a challenge in smart infrastructure technology/smart mobility on the Windsor-Detroit border. The competition is inspired by the Gordie Howe International Bridge between Windsor and Detroit, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects underway in North America. Students who participate in the competition will have three days to submit their proposed solution to a specific challenge posed by AVIN and WDBA. Once the competition is complete, we will hold a half-day virtual session where our judges will announce the winner, following presentations and panel discussions from government and industry leaders in smart infrastructure and smart mobility. The half-day event is designed to help students navigate potential career paths in smart mobility and ask any questions they may have. Short-listed teams will be given the opportunity to pitch their solutions to the panel of judges. The winner of the pitch-off competition will receive an award and have the opportunity to be mentored by an industry leader.
- May 27 – Registered students will receive the challenge statement.
- May 31 – Deadline to submit a detailed proposal and a short video.
- June 3 – Live event – Presentations and panel discussions followed by the announcement of the winner.
