Introducing the Indo-Canadian Entrepreneurship Exchange (ICEE) Program, a joint initiative by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and the University of Toronto, and their related organizations that foster entrepreneurship and startup activity, Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) and University of Toronto Entrepreneurship (UTE).
The University of Toronto and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) are excited to launch the Indo-Canadian Entrepreneurship Exchange (ICEE) Program, a cohort-based exchange program, which aims to support budding entrepreneurs, improve research collaboration, and establish a strong, two-way innovation talent pipeline.
The program will include a two-week-long Innovation Bootcamp that alternates between Canada and India. The bootcamp will help facilitate meaningful interactions between students, enabling them to further develop and share their ideas and establish new connections. The exchange is open to undergraduate students across all fields, early-stage entrepreneurs and graduate students.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on cross-border and international travel, the initial call for applications and the first cohort of this immersive programming will be preceded by four virtual events, beginning with the program launch on May 28, 2021.
The first ICEE Program cohort will consist of both U of T and IITB-SINE students coming together to learn, collaborate and grow their innovations. University of Toronto Entrepreneurship (UTE) will host the Canada week bootcamp with the support of Campus-Linked Accelerators (CLAs), who will invite participants to various programming activities across the U of T’s tri-campus. The India exchange week will be hosted by IITB-SINE with both U of T and IITB students participating in a range of activities designed to support early-stage entrepreneurs.
Partners: The program is developed in partnership with IITB’s Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) and intends to engage other government programs in Canada (MITACS; Canadian High Commission/Consulates in India) and India, the University of Toronto Centre in India (once launched), and relevant Indian industry/not-for-profit partners, once key priorities and educational outcomes are identified.
ICEE 2021 Speaker Series
On May 28, the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, IIT Bombay and the University of Toronto hosted part one of ICEE 2021 Speaker Series – a four-part speaker series for students and early-stage startup founders. This event celebrated the launch of the ICEE exchange program and discussed opportunities across Indian and Canadian startup ecosystems. This event was open to undergraduate and graduate students across all fields, early-stage entrepreneurs, faculty, and researchers interested in entrepreneurship. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the ICEE Program and learn from experts in the Indo-Canadian innovation landscape.
