Undertaking Innovation: Canadian Funding Programs for Startups
November 22, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Show me the Canadian money!
Canadian small and mid-sized businesses (SMEs) are often the drivers of industry change, developing innovative solutions to complex problems. These solutions can increase productivity, reduce technical barriers, and provide new capabilities that expand product and service offerings. However, for many small businesses in Canada, a lack of resources restricts the amount of research, development, and commercialization that a business can execute.
Canadian government funding provided through the National Research Council (NRC) enables SMEs to move technical projects forward at reduced expense and risk. The Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) is a government agency funded through NRC, offering several programs for innovative business projects.
During this event, get an overview of what IRAP is looking to fund, then hear from a panel of Industry Technical Advisors in the Therapeutics, Medical Device and Digital Health spaces as they answer questions regarding:
- Barriers to entry in each market
- What investors are looking for when investing their time and money in these spaces
- Technologies they have funded in each market
- Identifying the best resources in your area to help you find clinical validation, to consult, to supply etc.
Also joining the panel will be a company who has received IRAP funding to share their perspective on the IRAP funding process and what the funds helped them achieve.
